Regulatory signs

Turn left ahead

A blue circle with a white arrow curving left. A mandatory instruction telling you that you must turn left at the junction ahead — going straight on or turning right is prohibited. Used at one-way system entrances, where right turns are banned to prevent congestion, and at junctions where traffic signals only allow a left turn from your lane.

Where you'll see this sign

Town-centre one-way systems, busy urban junctions where right turns would block oncoming traffic, and the entrances to roundabouts on certain approaches.
