Maximum speed limit of 30 miles per hour
The most common urban speed limit in the UK. A red ring around the number 30 sets a 30 mph absolute maximum. By law, 30 mph applies on any road with regular street lighting unless another limit is signed — so you can be in a 30 zone without seeing a 30 sign at every junction. Watch for the 'repeater' signs (smaller versions with no description) confirming you're still in a 30 zone.
