Maximum speed limit of 60 miles per hour
A red ring around the number 60. Used where the road conditions justify a higher limit than 50 mph but the road type doesn't qualify for the national 70 mph (single carriageways, for example). On a single carriageway road outside a built-up area the national speed limit is 60 mph anyway — so this sign is most often seen as the limit reverting after a temporary lower section, or on dual carriageways with reduced visibility.

Where you'll see this sign
Rural single carriageways after a 40 or 50 mph stretch, dual carriageways with sharper geometry, and bypass roads.
