Accident ahead

Warning signs

Accident ahead

Warning sign telling you there has been an accident ahead. Slow down, be ready to stop, and expect possible lane closures or emergency vehicles. The sign is there to reduce the risk of secondary collisions. In hazard perception this is a classic 'developing hazard' – you must react early by checking mirrors, signalling if changing lane, and reducing speed. Failing to slow down in time is a common reason for failing the practical test.
