300 yards to a roundabout or the next point at which traffic may leave a route
Countdown sign telling you a roundabout or major exit is exactly 300 yards ahead. This is the first of the countdown signs and gives you the most time to prepare. On motorways and high-speed routes this sign is critical because lane changes at the last moment can cause sudden braking and increase the risk of rear-end collisions. Always start preparing as soon as you see the 300-yard countdown.
