Pelican crossing ahead
A red triangle with a pedestrian figure on a striped crossing warns of a Pelican (PEdestrian LIght CONtrolled) crossing ahead. The signals show red/amber/green for traffic, with a flashing amber phase where you can proceed if the crossing is clear. Stop fully on red; never start moving on the flashing amber until any pedestrians have finished crossing.

Where you'll see this sign
Town centres, near schools and shops, on busier urban roads. Most older pedestrian-controlled crossings in the UK are Pelicans, though many are being replaced with Puffin crossings.
