Countdown sign telling you a roundabout or major exit is exactly 300 yards ahead on a primary route. Primary routes (usually green-backed signs on A roads) carry heavier traffic, so you need to be in the correct lane early to avoid last-minute swerving. The sign gives you time to check mirrors, signal, and position safely. In hazard perception clips this distance warning often appears just before a need to change lane or slow down.
