Countdown sign telling you a roundabout or major exit is exactly 100 yards ahead on a non-primary route. You now have enough distance to check your mirrors, signal in good time, and move into the correct lane without braking suddenly. Non-primary routes are usually A or B roads that are not the main trunk roads, so traffic flow can be less predictable. Use this warning to begin planning your exit and positioning early – a common theory-test mistake is leaving lane changes until the last moment, which can cause sudden braking and increase the risk of rear-end collisions.
